Weibo's conspiracy theory

WEIBO THE NUT:

So while I'm on the subject of the environment, I should say something about Weibo Ludwig, A.K.A. "Lucky".

Now this guy has been protesting gas wells and flare-offs for a very long time. I can remember my crew cheif bringing me out to see his big anti-oil company sign that he had put onto his main gate. It was some rant about the oil/gas industry and how he wasn't ever going to allow any oil company to have access to his land for any reason whatsoever. The one thing that stands out in my mind was the tracter, ATV's, and cars that were in his front yard. Talk about hypocracy.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. What's important is that even though he was offered a pile of money to get out of the area, he stood firm and voiced his concerns even louder. I am reminded of Guy-Paul Moran, a fellow who was jailed for the brutal rape and murder of his next door neighbour. All through the eighties and early nineties, I saw his mom on a pile of different Canadian talk-shows professing her sons innocence. At the beginning, I thought that he should take his punishment like a man and quit whining about something that he obviously did. After all, the RCMP always get their man and we all grew up buying into the integrity of our national police force.

Eventually, though, I started questioning his conviction when it became apparent that he wasn't going to go away quietly. In the mid nineties, he was released from prison because it came to light that he was in fact innocent, and the RCMP knew it before he was brought to trial. You see, the RCMP hid evidence that would have exonerated him, and if popular stories are true, in fact created evidence to help convict him.

The reason I bring that up is because this guy, Ludwig, isn't going away. If anything, he is more vocal than ever before. He is currently on trial for oilfield vandalism. A charge stemming from somewhere around 150 attacks on oilfield equipment. Now I don't know if he was responsible for them or not, but last year, The RCMP, along with AEC West, (the oil company that has been targeted by the vandals), blew up a well near Ludwig's farm, and then, through innuendo, blamed it on ludwig. They even went so far as to hold public meetings after the bombing to "Discuss the residents fears". All the while implying that it was Ludwig. "But don't go out and get your gun (Bullets available at Macleods) and drive to his place (123 mulberry lane) and pop a cap in his ass (Nudge-nudge, wink-wink)."

So. here's another case of the RCMP generating evidence, and generally messing with a mans life. It makes me wonder if all of it wasn't self perpetuated by the oil company to get rid of a thorn.

Something to think about, anyway.
