Now I live in Canada where we don't have the right to bear arms. That isn't to say that we can't own weapons, rather that they are heavily regulated, with automatic rifles prohibited, and all pistols restricted from owning. Our system is far from perfect, as you can find out from any Albertan, but that same person would agree that it is far better than our southern cousins, with their almost daily shootings and other violence.
Don't get me wrong now, I can read the news. A shooting in rural Taber, Alta. A shooting at a bus barn in Ottawa, Ont. Marc Lepine. But I can also read the stats. There's somewhere around one percent of the shootings in Canada as there is in the US. Now, mathematically that doesn't work out. We have 10 percent of the population of the US, yet we have, per capita, ten times less the murder rate. There is only one of two ways to explain it. Either the population density has hit a critical mass in the US, or it's the fact that we are required to lock up our guns and ammo. Hmmmmm.
So Rosie gets up on her stage and tears apart Tom Sellek for around ten minutes on her show the other day and he starts pissing and moaning that he was only there to plug his movie, and that her show was the wrong forum for that discussion. HEY! TOM! WAKE UP!!! this is the perfect forum for expressing her views. I'll tell you, I can't remember the last Bomb Sellek movie that I watched, but I saw Rosie last week, and she put on a hell of a show. And if she can further civilization by rallying the people to change, then all the more power to her.
And one more thing: Hey, Ted Nugent: Stay the hell out of my woods, and leave the bears alone.
