TORONTO (CP) -- American rock star Ted Nugent is feverishly mad at Ontario's decision to ban its spring bear hunt and wants all of Canada to pay for what he calls the province's "tom foolery."
Nugent, an outspoken hunting and pro-gun crusader, said Wednesday he's organizing a boycott of tourism from the U.S.
"Banning the bear hunt has no scientific basis and was inspired by 'lunatic fringe' animal rights groups", he said in an interview.
Nugent, the self-proclaimed Motor City Madman who found fame in the 1970s with the hit Cat Scratch Fever and has sold 30 million albums, also wants the federal government to repeal its gun-control legislation.
Ok now, this is my problem with Ted Nugent. The guy is a "has-been" rock and roll star who thinks that the world
is his personal playground.
Well, I have a news flash for you Teddy, My Country doesn't belong to you. So get off your high-horse and shut the hell up. First of all, hunting in my country for an alien (Non resident) is a privlege not a right, and by your stance, I can see that you have no right to hunt here at all. How do you know that the spring bear hunt is essential? Do you have a degree in Biology or Finance? "Culling" seven percent of the population is obviously not feasable, since you don't have any bears left to kill at home. So before you go shooting off your mouth, why don't you take a page from your Canadian cousins and study the facts before forming your opinion.
Now this isn't to say that I'm against hunting and trapping, but all of us have to be responsible to our environment so that Ted's, and my, and your grandchildren can enjoy it too.
